As you may have guessed, if this wasn't your first stop, I have been a film and video editor by trade for the last 3 years and more recently, enroute to become a Houdini  generalist. I got attracted to the generalist route simply because I am not solely interested in FX when it comes to Houdini, I also enjoy procedural city creations, texturing, lighting, rendering in Karma and even using VEX or Python. I plan to master Houdini and other aspects of the VFX pipeline to become a Houdini-centric 3D generalist. With that said, I want to take you back to the beginning of my journey, which truly began back in 2023 as a freelance film editor and camera operator fresh out of film school. I created SLYU Cinematics, my own personal company, which I later found out was a lot harder to run than I expected. But from this experience, I was able to work with people who re-ignited my passion for the world of 3D animation and FX again, something I left behind as a kid growing up watching pixar and dreamworks films. It was a wake up call, I always used to love the animation and fictional worlds in videogames, and still do, so how is this any different?

And that is what got me into 3D and more recently, programming languages such as Python. I had to get my hands dirty on both sides of the camera to discover my passion for the technical side of film. This, coupled with my time spent editing films and working in post  naturally sparked my passion for what I do today.,

Oh yes, plans for the future. I want to learn more Python obviously and eventually if certain projects drive me that way, I also want to learn more about UE5. If there was another 3D program and language I should learn, it's Unreal engine and C++.

Outside of work, I speak three languages, enjoy RPGs, and play a lot of golf. What about you?
